WOMEN GATHERING (A POEM FROM RETREAT)

Women gathering

On sacred land

Where crisp mornings

Kiss your eyes with cotton candy skies

And moments unravel

In a hug

Or a conversation

Or an unexpected tear

Or the way the food dances on your tongue

Where the ocean, cold, invites you

To be wrapped in her ancient grace

And you touch into a safety net

That you’ve never known

As you deeply trust the women

Who gather on that land with you

Unaware that as you cultivate trust in another

You deepen your trust in your Self

Where you realise things

You’ve never known about your Self

And you do things

You’ve never done before

Like save a stingray

Or move people to tears with your writing

Or watch the sunrise over the salty horizon

Or be held as your body

Purges the grief you’ve been holding for

Far too many years

Where the ick of an early alarm evaporates

As you sit beside another woman

Who braved the cold

To welcome the day in

In a ceremonious ritual worth rising for

Where all of you is welcome

And the mirror blinds you

Gently

While you return home to meet your little Self

Who has been waiting for you

Your whole life to hear you say

I love you

You are enough.
